Why Your Toughest Month Can Lead to Your Best One..

March was one of the most challenging months I’ve ever had in business.

On paper, things were going well.

Growth was there. Clients were performing. Momentum was building.

But behind the scenes, we took a hit.

We lost two team members we had invested heavily in.

Thousands of pounds. Hundreds of hours. Time, energy, trust.

They moved on, which is completely fine. That’s part of business.

But it doesn’t make it any easier when it happens.

It was a setback.

And for a moment, it felt like momentum had stalled.

When Things Go Wrong at the Worst Time

One thing I’ve learned about business…

Problems never arrive when things are quiet.

They show up when you’re busy. When you’re growing. When everything feels like it’s starting to click.

And that’s exactly what happened.

March tested everything.

Leadership. Patience. Resilience.

It forced me to step back into the business in a way I hadn’t for a while.

Rolling the Sleeves Back Up

In March, I stepped back in to cover those roles while we recruited.

It was tough.

Long days. More responsibility. More pressure.

But it was also one of the most valuable things I’ve done.

It gave me the chance to:

  1. Revisit our processes
  2. Strengthen client relationships
  3. See the detail again
  4. Understand where we could improve

Sometimes when you step away from delivery, you lose touch with the small things that actually matter.

This forced me back into it.

And in hindsight, it made us better.

The Turnaround

April has been immense.

We welcomed a new account manager who has been fantastic.

We’re about to bring in two more key hires:

  • A videographer
  • A media buyer

Both crucial to where we’re heading.

We’ve also reinvented our service delivery and are about to introduce a new model.

Something I genuinely believe could shake up the renewables marketing space.

And the results are showing.

What Happens When the Right People Show Up

Our clients are on track to close over £2 million in sales in April.

We’ve maintained a 95 percent client retention rate.

We did lose one client, not due to results, but simply because they wanted to try a new provider.

That happens. We wish them well.

But overall, the loyalty, trust, and commitment from our clients has been incredible.

And internally, the team has stepped up massively.

That’s what carried us through.

Not systems. Not ads. Not strategy alone.

People. And more importantly… the right people.

A Record Month After the Hardest One

While dealing with everything that came out of March, April has turned into our best month ever.

We’ve beaten our previous revenue record by over 40 percent.

That contrast is mad when you think about it.

From one of the toughest months…

To the strongest month we’ve ever had.

That’s business.

The Reality of Scaling

Scaling isn’t linear.

It’s not a straight line up.

It’s:

  1. Progress
  2. Setback
  3. Growth
  4. Pressure
  5. Wins
  6. Problems

All happening at the same time.

And the biggest lesson for me over the last two months has been this:

When things go wrong, focus on the people and the fundamentals.

  • The right team
  • The right clients
  • The right mindset
  • The right strategy

That’s what gets you through.

Final Thought

If you’re going through a tough month right now…

Stay in it.

Stay consistent. Stay resilient. Stay focused on what actually matters.

Because things can turn around quicker than you think.

March was one of the hardest months I’ve had.

April has been one of the best.

Ride the wave.
